MARY LOUISE GOODPASTER

Mary Louise (Moore) Goodpaster was born April 13, 1931, in Independence, Missouri to Mary and Joseph Moore. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1949.

Mary worked at Montgomery Wards Department Store after high school. In 1950, she met the love of her life, Jesse Wayne Goodpaster. They were united in marriage on March 23, 1951, and were happily married for 72 years. Mary became a stay-at-home wife and mother while Jesse worked swing shifts and worked the farm.

They lived in Independence until 1963 and then they moved to the country. Together they raised their five children on a 320-acre farm in Adrian, Missouri. Mary enjoyed cooking and baking and made so many wonderful pies from scratch.

In 1980, Mary and Wayne moved to "the farm" in Raymore where they downsized to 20 acres. They lived there until 2020 when they moved into a maintenance free home since caring for the farm had become too much.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents (Mary and Joseph Moore), her brother (Danny Moore) and her husband of 72 years (Jesse Wayne Goodpaster).

She is survived by her children: Barbara (John Shanklin) Langley, Cheryl (Steve) Bell, Carol (Jim Taylor) Oldham, Lisa Altaman, and Jerry Wayne (Monica) Goodpaster - along with 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2025, at Belton Cemetery, Belton, Missouri.
