MARY "EVELYN" BARBER

Mary Evelyn Barber, age 89, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Evelyn was born at home in Pattensburg, Missouri, on July 11, 1936, to Johnnie and Mae Salmon. Shortly after graduating high school, Evelyn was joined in marriage with her late husband, George Barber, on October 31, 1958. Their union was blessed with two boys, Kevin and Gary. For much of Evelyn's life, she worked as a deli manager at Price Chopper and as a cake decorator. She was very well known for her delicious cakes. Evelyn enjoyed quilting, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, George Barber; parents, Johnnie and Mae Salmon; and three sisters, Wilma Kromeich, Paulette Salmon, and Betty Thomas.

She is survived by her two sons, Kevin W. Barber (Rhonda) and Gary A. Barber (Jeannie); sister, Avalie Cook; five grandchildren, Kara Barber (Dr. Mohanad Alobadi, MD), Kory Barber, Katherine Barber, Elizabeth Nelson (Ty), and Garrett Barber; and one great-grandson, Idris Alobadi.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Tina Maynard for helping take care of Evelyn during these last few months.
