MARTHA JANE MARTIN
Martha Jane Rhoades Martin, age 80, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at home.
A Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019 followed immediately by a 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. A Burial will be held at Raymore Cemetery in Raymore, Missouri immediately following the Funeral Service.
Martha was born on June 8, 1938 in Wellsville, Kansas. She was the daughter of John Rhoades and Della Murphy-Rhoades. Growing up she was one of four children including, Velorus, Charles and MaryAnn. After high school, Martha was joined in marriage with her late husband, Archie "Red" Martin and together they were blessed with four children, Phillip, Gary, Barbara and Beverly. For twenty years, she worked at Western Electric/AT&T as a manufacturing technician. After the passing of Red she worked at the House of Lloyd for eighteen years, before retiring in 2004. Martha was known by her family members as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, but also for her talent in crocheting, primarily afghans for family members.
Martha is preceded in death by her husband Archie, her beloved friend Jim Wilson and parents, John and Della Rhoades.
She is survived by her four children, Phillip Martin (Kathy), Gary Martin (Machelle), Barbara Martin, and Beverly Williams (Danny); two brothers, Velorus Rhoades (Toni) and Charles Rhoades (Bonnie); sister, MaryAnn Yokum; four grandchildren, Nicole (Kyle), Jason, Bradley, and Richard (Ashley); and seven great grandchildren, Dakota, Dalton, Skylar, Liam, Kendall, Violet, and Audrey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be give to HELP Human, 17122 Bel-Ray Pl., Belton, Missouri 64012.
