MARILYN K. AVALOS

Marilyn K. Avalos, age 76, of Belton, Missouri, passed away after a long struggle with MS on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Beautiful Savior Nursing Home.

A Visitation Service will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday November 26, 2018 with a 7:00 p.m. Memorial Service to follow at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday November 27, 2018 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery 542 City Route  #66 Lebanon, Missouri 65536.

Marilyn was born on January 22, in Lebanon, Missouri. She was the daughter of Frank A. Lewy and Edna Marie McBride Lewy.

In years past, Marilyn or Avie as known to her friends worked in Administration for the Red Cross. She was a Cantor for Christ the King Catholic Church in Kansas City and a member of the Fatima Choir. Marilyn loved all music and enjoyed performing. She composed her own music, sang, played guitar, and piano. She was most content when she was entertaining and making people happy. She had a great love of family. She also had a love for animals and never bypassed a stray.  Her family remembers her as a loving and giving mother, grandmother and friend. She was known for her encouraging strength through adversity, quick wit and creative sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents Frank Lewy and Edna Marie McBride Lewy.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Marisa Avalos-Viets, son in law; Bradley Viets; grandson, Devon, husband Luis Avalos; and many cousins.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Beautiful Savior Nursing home and Serenity Hospice for their attentiveness and the loving care they provided. She thought of everyone as her family.
