MARGARET MAY RAYMER

Margaret May Raymer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful follower of Jesus Christ, entered into the presence of her Lord on July 27, 2026, following a long illness. She was 93 years old.

Margaret was born on December 9, 1932. She grew up in Climax Springs, Missouri, where she met the love of her life, Vernon Raymer, while attending Climax Springs High School. Their high school friendship blossomed into a lifelong love story, and they shared 74 wonderful years of marriage. Together they made their home in the Kansas City area, where they raised their family and built a life centered on faith, love, and service to others.

Throughout her life, Margaret was known for her unwavering faith, quiet strength, generous spirit, and deep love for her family. Her life reflected a steadfast commitment to serving others, leaving behind a legacy of grace, kindness, and enduring faith.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Vernon Raymer; her son, Michael Raymer and his wife, Debbie, of Raleigh, North Carolina; and her daughter, Denise Byler and her husband, Mark, of Raymore, Missouri.

Margaret was a proud grandmother to Brittany Raymer, Lindsay House (Michael), and Benjamin Byler (Haley). She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, with a third joyfully anticipated. Nothing brought her greater joy than watching her family grow through the generations.

She is also survived by her brother, Preston Duckworth of Climax Springs, Missouri, and her sister, Joyce Sipe (Alvin) of Sedalia, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Clara Duckworth; her brother, Shelton Duckworth; and her sister, Phyllis Eason.

Early in her married life, Margaret worked as a bookkeeper and later as a bank teller, where she was known for her diligence, integrity, and warm personality. While she enjoyed her professional career, her greatest calling was as a devoted wife, loving mother, and exceptional homemaker. She possessed a remarkable gift for creating a warm and welcoming home where family and friends always felt loved and cared for. She believed that some of life's greatest moments were shared around the dinner table, expressing her love through the meals she lovingly prepared and the hospitality she generously extended.

She found great joy in cooking and entertaining, opening her home for family gatherings, holiday celebrations, and countless occasions that created cherished memories. In quieter moments, she enjoyed painting, expressing her creativity through art and capturing the beauty of God's creation.

Above all, Margaret's life was defined by her faith in Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of Overland Park Baptist Temple, where she worshiped, served, and formed lifelong friendships. Her faith guided every aspect of her life and was evident in the compassion, kindness, and encouragement she freely shared with others. She was a woman of quiet strength whose gentle spirit and unwavering trust in God were an inspiration to all who knew her.

While her family mourns her passing, they rejoice in the assurance that she has been welcomed into the presence of her Savior, where there is no more pain or suffering. Her legacy of faith, love, hospitality, and devotion to family will continue to live on through the generations that follow.

A memorial service celebrating Margaret's life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Cullen Funeral Home in Raymore, Missouri. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Margaret will be laid to rest at Raymore Cemetery immediately following the service.
