MABEL M. HOPKINS

Mabel M. Hopkins, age 99, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on November 9, 2016 at Foxwood Springs, Raymore, Missouri. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m., with Prayer Service beginning at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 13th at Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore 612 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore, MO. Burial will take place at the Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Sabina Catholic Parish 700 Trevis Ave., Belton, MO 64012.

Mabel was born February 28, 1917 in Chelsea, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Jesse and Lena (Doucette) Perry. On January 28, 1940, Mabel was united in marriage with Chester Hopkins Jr. Together, Mabel and Chester were blessed with five children, Chester, Robert, Judith, Sandra, and Susan.

Mabel lovingly served her family as a wife, mother, and homemaker. She was also a member of St. Sabina Catholic Parish.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 45 years, Chester Hopkins, Jr.; son, Chester Hopkins III; two sisters, Eva Meuse and Margaret Dulong; three brothers, Arthur, Edward, and Wilfred Perry; son-in-law, Douglas Cheney; and granddaughter, Anne Marie Flynn.

She is survived by her son, Robert Hopkins (Kathryn); daughters, Judith Cheney, Sandra Flynn (James), and Susan Schaefer (Steven); daughter-in-law, Catherine Hopkins; 13 grandchildren, Ellen (James) Karl, Michael Hopkins, Thomas Flynn, Judi Smith, Robert Hopkins, Stephen Hopkins, Karen Cheney, Kristin (Peter) Blaney, Elizabeth (Greg) Connell, Thomas Hopkins, Danielle (Alexander) Hammac, Kimberly Bryant, and John Berkebile; 2 step grandchildren, Matthew and Ethan Schaefer; 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
