Lyle Raymond Dawson

Lyle Raymond Dawson, 82, passed away on May 27, 2026.

Lyle was born on February 3, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Lloyd Drexel “Drex” Dawson and Betty Jean Dawson. He grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Southeast High School.

In his early twenties, Lyle married Glenda, and together they welcomed two children, Darin and Dayna Dawson. Following their divorce, Lyle married Joyce Lee Richardson in 1973. Lyle and Joy shared 22 years of marriage and were blessed with two daughters, Kristin and Holly. Although their marriage ended in divorce, they remained connected through the family they built together.

Later in life, Lyle shared a loving relationship with Ramona Ratley for many years. Together they made their home in Green Valley, Arizona, where they enjoyed their retirement years. Following the end of their relationship approximately three and a half years ago, Lyle returned to Kansas City, Missouri, where he resided in long-term care facilities until his passing.

Lyle was an entrepreneur and business owner who spent much of his career in the roofing industry. He took great pride in owning and operating his own roofing business before retiring in the early 2000s.

Retirement did not slow Lyle down. He remained active through his participation on an older adult baseball team, enjoyed spending time at the shooting range whenever possible, and never passed up an opportunity to enjoy a good meal at one of his favorite restaurants. He valued independence, enjoyed staying busy, and appreciated the simple pleasures of life and Elvis.

Lyle is survived by his children, Darin Dawson, Dayna Dawson, Kristin Feeback, and Holly Dawson; along with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Drexel “Drex” Dawson and Betty Jean Dawson.
