Obituary

LUCILLE F. HOLMAN

After 95 years of a life well lived, Frances Lucille (Cooper) Holman died peacefully at home February 21, 2024, surrounded by her adoring family.

Lucille was the third daughter born to loving parents, Elmer and Frances Cooper, on February 28, 1928, in Eagle Rock, Missouri. She, along with her beloved siblings, Edna (Don) Eddie, Dorothy (Paul) Curry, Norma (Warren) Swindell, Fredelene (Wayne) Horner, Faedola (Carl) Hilton, and Charles (Freda) Cooper grew up on a farm during The Depression. She often spoke of rising early to milk dairy cattle, working in the vegetable garden and helping prepare meals for the family of nine.

Meeting her future husband, William (Bill) Holman in 1950, as she worked in the Barry County Recorder's Office was a pivotal moment in her life, and the beginning of a long-lasting love story. After their elopement on March 22, 1950, and a move to the Kansas City area, they welcomed four children: Billie Lynn (Jim) Perrin, William H. (Wanda) Holman, Judith Holman, and Sandra (Terry) Stephenson. She found her purpose and greatest joy from being a mother.

Lucille worked as an accounting technologist for the Internal Revenue Service until retirement in 1989. Her retirement allowed time for her second greatest joy in life, hosting her beloved grandchildren: James (Ruth Ann) Perrin, Kristin (Jake) Ruthstrom, Matthew (Ashley) Perrin, Jackson Kueffer and Samantha (Logan) Troutt. She and Bill delighted in supporting their different interests and hosting RV camping trips in the Ozarks. The addition of her great-grandchildren Joshua Perrin, Madison Perrin, William Ruthstrom, Bennett Ruthstrom, Eli Ruthstrom and Jack Perrin only expanded her jubilation.

Lucille worked hard all of her life, guiding four different generations. She was the matriarch, anchor and guiding light to the Holman family, cherished for her patience, kindness and strength. Her life was honorable and enviable for the way she loved and how much she was loved in return. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion that will forever be woven into the fabric of her family.
