LOUIS ADRIAN HENDRICKX JR.
Louis A Hendrickx Jr., age 86, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the Foxwood Living Center.
Louis was born on December 29, 1931 in Butler, Minnesota. He was the 9th child of Louis Hendrickx and Juliana Dousi. Growing up, he had eleven brother's and sister's; Frank, Marie, Joe, John, Norb, Ann, Christine, Bill, Andy, Clare and Nellie. Louis practiced the Catholic faith.
After high school, Louis served his country in the United States Air Force from April 1951 to December 1953. He ended his military career with the final rank of Sergeant. Louis then attended the University of Montana and obtained a degree in Forestry in June of 1960. He then completed Park Ranger training in 1963 at the National Park Service Horace Albright Training Center at Grand Canyon National Park, Death Valley National Monument, and Natural Bridges National Monument, before retiring on January 3, 1987.
Lou loved sports, especially football--Vikings, Notre Dame and the Golden Gophers—NBA Timberwolves--WNBA Lynx--MLB Twins. He loved to travel--Europe, Russia, South America, Central America. Lou loved to talk about his career as a Park Ranger. He loved fall and all the color of trees--loved to take pictures of the trees, loved old barns and open spaces/fields. He had the full collection of Zane Grey books--his favorite book was "The Light of the of the Western Stars". Lou also collected western memorabilia, coins, Dutch shipwrecked items, pre-Columbian pottery.
Louis is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Juliana Hendrickx; brothers, Frank (Mildred) Hendrickx, Joe (Clemie) Hendrickx, John (Eileen) Hendrickx, Norb (Irene) Hendrickx, Bill (Terrie) Hendrickx and Andy Hendrickx; sisters, Marie (Gene) Kennedy, Ann (Jack) Mulhern, and brother-in-law Jerome Wegscheid; and nine nephews.
He is survived by sisters, Christine Scheidecker of Perham, Minnesota, Clare Hendrickx of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and Nellie Wegscheid of Wadena, Minnesota; as well as over fifty nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on a later date.
