Obituary

Lindy S. Brown, 47, of Peculiar, MO, was called home to our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 10, 2010. A memorial ceremony in celebration of her life will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Maywood Baptist Church, 10505 E. Winner Road, Independence, Missouri. A family visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at which time the memorial service will start.
Lindy was born on October 22, 1962 in Davenport, Iowa the loving daughter of Jack and Ruth Ann Luetje. Lindy was a 1981 graduate of North Scott High School and also lived in Park View, Iowa when she was younger. Lindy lived in Bettendorf, Iowa and worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 18 years at which time she was forced to take a disability retirement for health reasons. Lindy met and married Richard L. Brown during this time period and moved to make her home in Independence, Missouri with Richard and Cassie their daughter. Lindy always loved being outside and out in the country. For this reason, Lindy and Richard moved, 3 years ago, to their new home in Peculiar, Missouri where Lindy enjoyed seeing all the farms and wild animals as they drove to and from their home. Recently, while returning from a hair appointment, Lindy was able to see a flock of wild turkeys about 15 yards from the car window. She could not believe how close they were and how beautiful they were in the wild. She was so happy and excited to have seen God's wonderful creation up close.
Lindy was a member of Maywood Baptist Church and her greatest joy was attending church functions and the fellowship of her church family. Lindy was a wonderful blessing to so many others during this time in her life. Even when Lindy's health forced her to stay home the past several years and she was unable to physically attended services, she still ministered to others through prayer, phone calls, cards and letters when she was strong enough to do so. Lindy's favorite Bible verse was Deuteronomy 31:8 which she had tattooed on the top of her left foot. In the summer when she wore her sandals out shopping, people would see it and ask what it meant. She loved that she could use her tattoo as a conversation starter and tell them just how much Jesus loved them.
Lindy also cherished spending time with her family and always looked forward to a visit from her daughter Cassie and granddaughter Breia. When Breia climbed up in grandma's lap to give her hugs and kisses, Lindy's eyes and smile would light up the room. Lindy loved her dogs and is already missed by her little dog Lulu. Lindy loved to read the Bible and other Christian Books. She was especially excited about the Kindle that Richard bought her for Christmas because she no longer had to worry about physically making it to the book store and back. Anytime that she needed another book, she simply downloaded it from her spot on the couch. Lindy always wanted to learn to knit and was finally able to finish a beautiful blanket for her granddaughter, Breia, and a warm scarf for her husband Richard. Lindy also spent time watching fashion related shows on television always knowing the latest fashion trend. Programs such as the Oscars and Grammies were always a welcome escape.
Lindy is survived by her husband Richard L. Brown of the home, daughter and granddaughter Cassie Lowry and Breia Lowry of Independence, Missouri, stepdaughter Andrea Osiek and grandson Colin and family of Webb City, Missouri, stepdaughter Jennifer Brown and family of Kansas City, Missouri, Lindy's parents Jack and Ruth Ann Luetje of Davenport, Iowa, three sisters and their families, Leanne (Paul) Holden and family of Bettendorf, Iowa, Laurie (Terry) Manley and family of Lodi, Wisconsin, and Lynelle (Corey) Anderson and family of Eldridge, Iowa. Lindy also has uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews that will miss her but know that she is with our Lord awaiting our arrival.
In lieu of flowers, contributions, in Lindy's honor, can be made to the "American Syringomyelia & Chiari Alliance Project, Inc." at www.asap.org.
