Linda Lee (Hill) Sawyer

Linda Lee (Hill) Sawyer 84 departed this life at the KC Hospice House, Kansas City, MO.

She was born October 7, 1940, in Council Grove, KS, the daughter of Henry Robert Hill and Norrene Allen Hill. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, stepmother Billie Wiliams, grandmother Anna Hill, and grandfather Doctor Wiliam Guy Allen. She is survived by her husband of 64 years Bill Sawyer, brother J. Allen Hill, Rafal, Ft, Myers,  FL daughters, Lorie Marie Garlich, David, Allen, TX, and Leann Norrene Gentry, Jim Leawood, KS, Grandsons, Nicholas David Garlich, Aude, Oak Grove, MO, Scott William Garlich, Jennifer, Allen, TX, Brett Garlich, Allen TX James Sawyer Gentry, Leah, Overland Park, KS, Thomas Cunningham Gentry, Chloe, Overland Park, KS: Sister-in-law Sandra Long, Strong City, KS, four great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Linda began school in Council Grove, then moved to Kansas City, MO, and attended school there through the 7th grade. She then moved back to Council Grove and graduated from Council Grove High School in the class of 1959. After high school, she graduated from Cosmetology School and worked as a beautician.

While in high school she was a majorette, cheerleader and participated in girls' sports. She met her husband-to-be Bill Sawyer, and were married on July 10, 1960, in Council Grove, KS
Linda and Bill lived in several cities while Bill worked for Amoco Oil before they settled in Prairie Village, KS, where they raised their two daughters, Lorie and Leann.

They also had a home at the Lake of the Ozarks for over 23 years where they enjoyed fishing, boating, and having their grandsons visit during the summer months. Linda enjoyed fishing, she and Bill enjoyed their annual trips to Bull Shoals, Arkansas to float the White River trout fishing. Traveling and cruising were the favorite things they enjoyed and made annual trips. They spent the winters in Cape Coral, Florida for 17 years, making many friends and loved escaping the cold, snow, and ice during the winter months. She and Bill were Kansas City Chiefs fans and season ticket holders for over 40 years.

Linda and Bill sold their Prairie Village, KS home In January 2018 and moved into Foxwood Springs, a Senior Living Community in Raymore, MO. Linda loved being active volunteering in the community and serving as a Parish Leader. Her favorite pastimes were playing card games, water aerobics, shopping, and the Kansas City Chiefs.
