IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda Ann
Nelson
December 18, 1939 – November 7, 2021
LINDA ANN NELSON
Linda Ann Nelson, age 81, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Foxwood Springs Retirement Home in Raymore, Missouri.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 6401 Wornall Terrace, Kansas City, Missouri, 64113, with a visitation to follow.
On December 18, 1939, Linda was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Lynn Loomis and Helen (Fritz) Loomis.
After graduating from high school, Linda achieved her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She invested many happy years teaching grade school.
Linda was a devoted wife, a loving mom, and an adoring, engaged Grandma. God wired her to love teaching, helping, and serving others; she was a true and loyal friend and was known for being hospitable, kind, welcoming to all, and making people feel cared about.
Linda loved her sisters and extended family, and she enjoyed butterflies, trees, sweets, sunsets, traveling, writing poetry, bird watching, bridge, reading, sewing, Bible study, walking, taking care of the environment, and being generous. Linda delighted in being with her family at Lake Madison and appreciated many of life's simplest pleasures like finding four-leaf clovers.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Helen Loomis.
She is survived by her loving husband of over sixty years, Joel Nelson; son, Timothy Nelson (Dona); daughter, Marcia Petrossian (Michael); two sisters, Marilyn Hansen (Robert) and Kay Hegler (Ron Hall); and six grandchildren, David Nelson (Hannah), Philip Nelson, Jonathan Nelson, Hildsy Petrossian, Gracelyn Petrossian, and Joella Petrossian.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to: The KU Alzheimer's and Dementia Research Gift Fund in memory of Linda A. Nelson. 4350 Shawnee Mission Parkway, Fairway, KS 66205.
