LINDA ELAINE BARR




Linda Elaine Barr translated 08-25-2011 aftXer a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. Linda was fiercely independent and met life's challenges on her own terms. Funeral services will be 7pm Monday, August 29, 2011 at Cullen Funeral Home with visitation 5:30-7pm. Memorials to Grace Hospice or Eckankar 3611 Main KCMO 64111. Linda always took pride in her family and was quick to share affection and love to all those she met and knew. Linda graduated from Belton High School in 1960. She attended Kansas State and Central Missouri College and was married to Jerry Barr July 27, 1963. Linda and Jerry have three sons, Christopher, Nathan and Micah. Linda completed a college degree in elementary education at Avila College in August of 1978 and went on to obtain a Master's degree in Computer Science in 1982. Linda retired from the Harrisonville School District in 1998 after teaching more than 20 years. She truly enjoyed helping others learn and grow and had many fond memories of her teaching career. She especially enjoyed meeting former students and learning how they made good lives for themselves. Linda also took great joy in life, family, spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks, camping, sewing, and caring for those she loved. Linda was spiritually active in Eckankar - a religion of Spirit and Light. Linda is preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Mother and Father in law. Linda is survived by her Husband Jerry of 48 years, three sons, Christopher, Nathan and Micah, their wives, Angela, Shaunda and Kellie and six grandchildren, Allison, Taylor, Spencer, Sofiya, Walter and Elloitt.
