LEONARD PAUL MEIRON
Leonard Paul Meiron, age 82, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021.
A rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021 followed by a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Sabina Catholic Church, 700 Trevis Ave., Belton, Missouri 64012. Following mass a celebration of life will be held at Leonard and Nancy's home.
Leonard was born in Springfield, Illinois on December 9, 1938 to John A. Meiron and Mary Therese (Trello) Meiron. After graduating high school Leonard was joined in marriage with Nancy (Pierce) on August 17, 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri. He then went on to serve his country honorably and faithfully in the United States Airforce. This paved the way for Leonard's career as an Air Traffic Controller. In life Leonard gave back to others selflessly. He was involved in the Missouri Special Olympics, donated food to St. James, and was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus. Every Sunday Leonard would go with Nancy to the Benton House in Belton and give communion to residents there. They were faithful members of St. Sabina Catholic church. Leonard also loved baseball as well as other sports along with hunting and fishing.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Meiron; and brother Robert Meiron.
He leaves behind his loving wife of over sixty-two years, Nancy Meiron; five children, Michael Meiron, Matthew Meiron (Valerie), Mitchell Meiron (Deborah), Theresa Pond (Brian), and Katherine Morin (Rod Tanner); brother, Tom Meiron; two sisters, Theresa Williams and Patricia Kersey; nine grandchildren, Jason, Jill, Joy, Travis, Nicole, Jacob, Halley, Austin, and Allison; and six great grandchildren, Addison, Chase, Colton, Dax, Kennison, and Beckett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Special Olympics Missouri, 305 Special Olympics Dr., Jefferson City, Missouri 65101.
