LEO HASTIE

Leo was born in Nanty Glo, Pa. on April 18, 1920 to Michael Hastie and Sarah Jane Smith. He was the last surviving son of 10 boys. He went to his heavenly home on May 28, 2011. He is survived by his four children: Alfred Leo (Bonnie) and their three sons; Greg, Todd and Brent: Ginny Young (Jim) and their son Daryn: Carol Emeola and her son Scott and three daughters, Allyson, Stephanie and April: Mary Myatt and her two sons, Jeff and Chad. Also eighteen great grand children. Leo was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Kathryn Louise and wife of 19 years, Adalyn. Leo was a minister in the Church of the Nazarene for 52 years. He pastored churches in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, and Ohio. He loved to sing and travel with a gospel quartet in his younger years. His favorite song was "The Love Of God." He sang this song often. Up to his last few days; those who heard him sing, knew it came from his heart. He had a very caring and compassionate soul. He loved people. He was always happy to be with his family. He will be dearly missed. Services will be Tuesday May 31, 2011 at the New Horizon Church of the Nazarene, 17200 Chestnut St., Belton, Missouri. Visitation will precede service at 5:00pm – 6:30pm. Service to follow visitation at 6:30pm. Burial at Oakland Cemetary in Indiana, Pa. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a memorial contributions be made in memory of Leo Hastie for recent tornado victims at Compassionate Ministries, Church of the Nazarene, 17001 Prairie Star Parkway, Lenexa, KS 66230.
