Lawrence Lee Thomas, 74, of Peculiar, MO, passed away Jan. 3, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Larry was born and raised in Springfield, MO. He worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company in KC for 31 years. Larry pitched for several softball teams and played outfield for the Naval Reserves. He shared his love of sports with his children and grandchildren; was involved with 3-2 baseball for many years, and taught 5 granddaughters how to pitch. "Grandpa Larry" very seldom missed any of his grandchildren's activities and was their biggest fan. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Lee & Marj Thomas; & brother-in-law, Joe Highfill. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carol; 3 children: Andrew (Diann) Thomas, Jennifer (Roger) Carter, & Bret (Kelly) Thomas; 9 grandchildren: Rachel, Lauren, Mitch, Jessica, Hanna, Emily, Katie, Donovan, & Avery; 2 step-grandchildren: Kelly & Eric; step-great grandchild, Kimberly; twin brother, Jerry (Darlene); brothers: Bill (Janice) & Bob (Chris); & sister, Ann. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan 6th, 6-8 p.m. at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W Foxwood Dr., Raymore, MO. The funeral service will be Thursday, Jan 7th at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 SW 150 Hwy., Lee's Summit, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society or Northcare Hospice. Larry's presence will be greatly missed by the many lives he touched.
