Obituary

LAWRENCE EDWIN SIMPSON

Lawrence Edwin Simpson, age 85, of Raymore, Missouri passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Services will be held at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083 on Tuesday, July 28th, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Lawrence was born on March 10, 1941, in Laclede County, Missouri the son of Owen and Lucille Simpson of Lebanon, Missouri. He was a brother to three siblings: Glenda Brockman, Rita Ware, and Allen Simpson.

He graduated from Lebanon High school in 1959. Larry met his wife, Carol in 1964. They married two years later on September 3rd, 1966 and eventually settled in Raymore, MO in 1976 where they raised their family. He was a father to four children: David, Jennifer, Mike, and Jeremy. He was also a grandfather to 16 grandchildren, great-grandfather to 22, and great-great grandfather to another 3 adoring children.

He worked as a grocery store clerk for many years until he joined the Post Office where he walked a mail route through rain, sleet, or snow until he finally retired at the age of 69.

Larry, along with his long-time best friend, Clayton McDavitt built and established the Pleasant Hill Church of Christ on 7 Highway where he preached the gospel until he was no longer physically able to do so. He stood as a shining example of what it means to be a good and humble man, a good father, and a faithful Christian.

On July 19th at 12:20pm, two months, two days, and two hours after the loss of his beloved wife, Lawrence went to his home in heaven to be reunited with her once again. He will be missed greatly and remembered fondly by all who knew him.
