LAWRENCE L. LONEY
Lawrence L. Loney, age 77, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, passed away at John Knox Village House in Lee's Summit, Missouri on August 1 st , 2018.
A Visitation Service will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Monday, August 6 th located at 1111 W. Foxwood Dr, Raymore, MO 64083 at 1:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at the Raymore Cemetery located in Raymore, Missouri following the Funeral Service.
Memorial Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the Lions Park Horseshoe Club (Peculiar), 16206 E. 307 th St. Harrisonville, MO 64701.
Lawrence was born on October 31 st , 1940, in Amboy, Illinois. He was the son of Adron Loney and Pearl Reeter Loney.
The Loney Family moved to Chillicothe in 1947, where they purchased the farm on which Lawrence grew up. He attended Chillicothe High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force after graduation. After 4 years of active duty, he was employed as an aircraft mechanic in the civil service at Richards Gebauer AFB in Belton, Missouri. On November 12 th , 1961, Lawrence and Mary Ellen Street were united in marriage. They settled on an acreage East of Raymore, enjoyed 56 years of marriage, and had three children: Dale, David, and Carol.
Lawrence was able to visit Germany, Panama, Iceland, and Hawaii as a reservist, but his greatest love was working on his farm, baling hay, and gardening. He restored his father's 1937 John Deere Tractor and loved showing it off in local parades. His favorite hobby was pitching horseshoes with the Lions Park Horseshoe Club in Peculiar, Missouri. He was quite committed to pitching and competed in the World Horseshoe Tournament in Topeka.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, Adron and Pearl Loney.
He is survived by his wife Mary Loney; two sons, Dale Loney and David Loney (wife, Debbie); daughter Carol Petrini (husband, Marco); sister, Joyce Perry (husband, Ron); five granddaughters, Courtney, Caitlynn, Cortney (husband, Brian), Erica, and Eva; and four great-grandchildren.
