KENNETH "RAY" GUIN
Kenneth "Ray" Guin, age 82, of Belton, Missouri, passed away October 4, 2016 at Belton Regional Medical Center. A Memorial Celebration will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, with visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 14th at Cullen Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to Belvidere Heights Baptist Church, 15109 White Ave, Grandview, MO 64030. Donations may also be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association.
Ray was born May 15, 1934 in Lepanto, Arkansas. He was the son of Greeley and Grace L. (Taylor) Guin. On January 4, 1956, Ray was united in marriage to Jean M. Dancer. Together Ray and Jean were blessed with three children, Patricia, David, and Glenda.
Ray selflessly served his country in the Air Force for over 21 years as a Master Sergeant, serving in Korea, England, Turkey, Thailand, Vietnam and numerous bases in the United States.
After retiring from the Air Force, Ray began working for the United States Postal Service, starting as a mail carrier, returning to college at the age of 50, and advancing in his career to become Postmaster until his retirement from the Postal Service in 1996. He was also a member of the Belvidere Heights Baptist Church since 1968, serving in numerous positions such as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Director, Homebound Ministry, Royal Ambassadors, joyfully serving others, unendingly.
Everyone who knew him, knew that Ray was an avid golfer, an all-around handyman, and a vintage car enthusiast. His passion for golf and automobiles was only exceeded by his love for God, his family, his friends, and his church. Nothing could bring a smile to his face as quickly as his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Greeley and Grace Guin; his son, David Ray Guin; brother, Harold W. Guin; and sister, Dorothy Hall.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jean M. Guin; daughters, Patricia J. Mays (Gary) and Glenda M. Monaco (Dave King); daughter-in-law, Patricia M. Guin; sisters, Doris Williams (Jason) and Patsy Ryan; ten grandchildren, Heather (Jeromy), Alissa (Dan), Lindsay (Brian), Philip (Jessica), Alexander (Suzanne), Gregory, David, Theresa, Arthur, and Jeffrey; and 19 great-grandchildren.
