In Loving Memory of Kenneth Wayne Cox (1936-2023)
Kenneth Wayne Cox, aged 87, of Raymore, Missouri, peacefully departed this world to join the Lord on Sunday, October 22, 2023, surrounded by his beloved family and life partner.
Born on July 13, 1936, in Independence, Missouri, Kenneth, affectionately known as Kenny, was the son of Milton Earl Cox and Thelma Fern Williams. In his early years, the Cox family journeyed through various locations in west-central and southern Missouri before making their home in Independence in 1949. There, Kenny began his work life at local drug stores, tending to the soda fountain and delivering essential medicines and sundries.
As his high school years ended, Kenny's father, Earl, played a role in steering his son into the world of sheet metal craftsmanship. Guided by his father, Kenny entered the apprenticeship with the W. C. Wiedenmann Co. He simultaneously furthered his education at Finley College, a path that would shape his future. Kenny embarked on a career as a sheet metal worker, eventually ascending to the role of project manager for two other sheet metal contractors. In 1979, he realized a lifelong dream by establishing his own industrial sheet metal contracting company, Cox Air Systems. During his remarkable career, Kenny led the completion of numerous highly successful industrial sheet metal projects and fostered a cohesive team of skilled workers and project managers. His dedication culminated in a well-deserved retirement in 1998.
Outside of his professional life, Kenny's passions included tending to his yard, exploring the world through travel, immersing himself in music, especially bluegrass and country genres, and serenading with his guitar. In his later years, he found joy in journeying with his beloved companion, Sandy, relishing the vibrant experiences of bluegrass festivals, and savoring life to the fullest, often through shared games and adventures.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Earl, and Thelma; two brothers, Ralph, and David Cox; an infant sister, Marjorie; and his former wife, Victoria Cox.
He leaves a lasting legacy of love and memories with his children, Michael Cox (Kathy Copeland) and Michelle Holloway (Mark); his life partner, Sandy Spoor; three cherished grandchildren, Teri Friess (Billy), Madison Holloway, and Matthew Holloway; three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jaden, and Cole; and his great-great-granddaughter, Ella.
