Woodworth
October 27, 1941 – October 18, 2020
KAREN MARIE WOODWORTH
Karen Marie Woodworth, our beloved mother, passed away from a sudden illness on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 7:55am, she was 78 years old. Her two sons, Mark & Brad Woodworth and their spouses were present at Karen's bedside. Karen was born on Oct. 27, 1941 to James and Ruth Nelson in St. Paul Minnesota. She was one of three children, James, her older brother, and Ruth Ann, her younger sister. Karen was an active child full of boundless energy. She was that way throughout her entire life, ever on the move. She played the clarinet in her high school marching band and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. She attended the University of Minnesota for two years studying biology. Karen met Allen Woodworth while visiting her parents in Missouri and soon married on March 3, 1962. She raised two sons and was a devoted, loving mother. She attended all their swimming, wrestling, soccer, and football events as well as all their scouting, school, and church activities. She never complained. She loved her family and all those whom she came to know. Karen also worked retail, was an IRS auditor for many years, and received her teaching degree from UMKC in 1994. Shortly thereafter, she became involved in a nutritional direct sales company and travelled the country hosting radio shows. She became very successful. Karen never taught in the public schools, but she had a passion for learning which contributed greatly to her many years teaching and serving in her church community, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved the Lord which showed in her loving kindness and her desire to help those around her including strangers. Her radiant personality and genuineness attracted countless people who came to love her. Karen was a prolific reader and her library included hundreds of books. She loved family history and enjoyed watching sporting events, namely football, watching multiple games at once. Her legacy included eight grandchildren: Alicia, Stacia, Michele, Boston, Heather, Christian, Jason, and Kate and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the near future only for family members due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
