In Loving Memory of Karen Sargert
Karen Sargert, born on May 6, 1942, lived a life marked by love, strength and unwavering devotion to her family. She passed away on April 7, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, generosity and enduring love.
Karen and her beloved husband Ron Sargert—who passed away in 2020—were the heart of the Sargert family. Their love story began at Ruskin High School (Class of '59) when Karen asked Ron to a Sadie Hawkins dance. From that moment on, the rest was history. They were married for 58 years, building a life full of love, laughter and family. Their legacy lives on through their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all those whose lives they touched along the way.
Karen's life was centered around what mattered most to her: family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life and nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by them.
One of her greatest joys was attending her kids' and grandkids' sporting events. She and Ron were loyal supporters in the stands—true fixtures at every game they could attend. Their presence was cherished by all and they were loved by the communities they cheered alongside.
Karen had a feisty spirit, a sharp wit and a heart that gave freely. Whether she was cheering at games, debating Fox News, hosting a holiday gathering or cooking one of her signature meals, she made everyone around her feel seen, heard and loved. She had a remarkable gift for being present—asking thoughtful questions, listening deeply and showing up for those she loved.
Her strength, humor and kindness will be profoundly missed, but the legacy of her love will continue to shine in the lives of all who knew her.
Karen is lovingly remembered by her children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren:
• Darren Sargert and his children: Kirstin (and her sons Isaac and Dax), Zack, Jake and Nick
• Brian Sargert, his wife Tanya and their children: Sierra (and her son Copeland) and Bryce
• Stacey Zahn, her husband Jason and their children: Hunter and Parker
She was a proud and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and her love lives on through them.
Karen is also survived by her dear sisters: Marilyn Donoho, Diane Bridgman and Robin Thompson. After many years apart, they were joyfully reunited in recent years—a time that brought deep healing, laughter and a renewed closeness that was incredibly special to her.
Karen's presence was a gift and her memory will be held in our hearts forever.
