JUDY ANN HAYS

Judy Ann Hays, 77, passed away at her home on Wednesday January 14, 2026. Judy lived a contented life, loving her friends and family and enjoying reading and her TV programs from her favorite rocking chair in her living room. She loved animals, especially dogs and her beloved Callie most of all. She was a wonderful sister, daughter, aunt and friend.

Judy was born in Springfield, Missouri on August 13, 1948, to Frances (Newt) Henry Morrissey and Leno Belle Myers Morrissey Nelson who both preceded her in death. She graduated from Chillicothe High School in Chillicothe, Missouri and then attended Metropolitan Junior College in Kansas City, Missouri. She lived in Missouri, Florida and Minnesota and worked a variety of jobs. She worked as a medical records clerk at St Joseph's Hospital and as administrative assistant in photography and optometry. She then finished her working career with HyVee Foods. After retiring she was a much sought after pet sitter.

Judy is survived by her brother Richard Nelson (Deanna), two nephews, Reed Nelson and Robert Nelson (Kassie) and her beloved great-niece Kaylynn Marlee Marie Nelson. Also several cousins whom she cherished, Paula Jean, Michael, Larry, Cindy and Terry. She is also survived by her best friend of almost 70 years, Mary Willis (Lee) and their children and grandchildren whom she counted as her family.

Judy was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be missed on this earth.
