JUANITA M. CALLAHAN

Juanita M. Callahan, age 69, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at her home in Belton, Missouri.

A Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 with a Funeral Service to follow at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore, Missouri 64083. An Internment will be held at Wills Cemetery in Peculiar, Missouri following the Funeral Service.

Juanita was born on September 7, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the daughter of Dominick J. Peno and Martha "Tillie" M. Hollingshead.

After graduating from Carlisle High School in 1968, Juanita started working at the Des Moines General Hospital as an aid in Des Moines, Iowa. On February 14, 1970 Juanita was joined in marriage with her high school sweetheart, Terry Callahan. Together they were blessed with two daughters, Jen and Angela; and a son, Dominick.

For over thirty years Juanita worked at the 7/11 in Belton, Missouri and for the next thirteen years remained in Belton, working at the Home Depot. What was most important to Juanita is the creation of her family throughout these years. Known for the love she had for her family, Juanita would say, "My family is my life." In addition, Juanita found a great love for cooking and baking for her family, also being remembered for her ability to do both.

Juanita is preceded in death by her parents Tillie and Dominick Peno; sister Connie Heston; and granddaughter Jayden Tompkins.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Terry Callahan; son, Dominick Callahan of Belton, Missouri; two daughters, Jen Smith (Husband Bret) of Belton, Missouri and Angela Tompkins (Husband Chris) of Raymore, Missouri; four brothers, Johnny Peno of Carlisle, Iowa, Tommy Peno (Wife Sandy) of Carlisle, Iowa, Ronnie Peno of Carlisle, Iowa, and David Peno (Wife Amy) of Raytown, Missouri; sister, Vickie Anderson (Husband Roger) of Stanhope, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Kristen Smith, Nickolas Smith (Wife Taylor), Travis Smith (Wife Jamie), Madison Smith, Shane Helm (Wife Arian), Emily Tompkins, Logan Tompkins, Dylan Callahan, and Kylee Callahan; six great grandchildren, Atticus, Raelynn, Kynzlee, Jayse, Kamryn, Jonah; many nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews and cousins.
