JOYCE ANN WALKINGTON

Joyce Ann Walkington of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away on March 19, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. We will celebrate Joyce's life with a visitation at Cullen Funeral Home (Raymore, MO) on Friday, March 24 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Peculiar 216 E Broadway St., Peculiar, Missouri on Saturday, March 25 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the youth group or food pantry at First Baptist of Peculiar.

Inurnment will take place at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Wills Cemetery in Peculiar, Missouri.

Joyce was born on June 25, 1943 in Stella, Missouri. In 1960, she married the love of her life, Bill, and her 56 years of marriage was a source of joy and a model for others in her life. Together, Bill and Joyce enjoyed country life, started small farms twice, remodeled several houses, and took road and train trips across the country. They were blessed with a son, Lee. Joyce was an amazing homemaker—unrivaled in her ability to create a comfortable, beautiful home. A great cook, she was known for her sugar cookies, down-home cuisine, and amazing biscuits. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, just visiting, laughing or playing games together. Joyce loved good books, old movies and British TV, collecting baskets, and enjoyed antiques, sunny days, flowers, and the sound of rain on the roof.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Le Roy Ross Lamb and Clinto Clapper Lamb. She is survived by her husband Bill Walkington; son Lee Walkington (Ginny); niece and daughter of her heart Kelly Sleeper-Keegan (Patrick); nephew Bryan Sleeper; sister Sharon Johnson; brother Larry Lamb (Debbie); great-nephews Coty Sleeper (Megan), Lane Sleeper, and Seth Sleeper; and honorary grandchildren Kendall Keegan, Brendan Keegan, Ariana Hardy, Kaitlyn Sleeper and Kensley Sleeper.
