Obituary

JOYCE YVONNE HEINITZ

Joyce Yvonne Heinitz, 74, of Grandview, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on February 26, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Jack Morgan Sr. and Joan (Korte) Morgan. On March 26, 1977, Joyce married the love of her life, Dennis Heinitz, and together they built a life centered on family and raised two children.

Joyce touched the lives of all who knew her. She dedicated over 30 years of her career as a Department Manager with Sears, where she formed lasting friendships. Even after retirement, she stayed closely connected with her coworkers—affectionately known as the “Yak-Yak Girls.” Joyce was also a devoted daughter who lovingly cared for her aging parents until their passing. She was a proud supporter of her family’s service to the country. She stood steadfastly beside her husband and children throughout their military careers, enduring deployments, distance, and the sacrifices that come with military life. Through every challenge, she provided unwavering encouragement, strength, and love that kept her family grounded and connected.

Family was the heart of Joyce’s world. She found her greatest joy in her grandchildren—attending their activities, playing Xbox games with them, and sharing a love for all things Disney. Her presence brought warmth, laughter, and comfort to every gathering.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Dennis Heinitz; her loving children, Janet Heinitz-Smith and her husband, Erikk, and Aaron Heinitz and his wife, Maddie; and her three cherished granddaughters, Savannah, Yvonne, and Harley, who will deeply miss her. She is also survived by her siblings, Marcia Becco, Jerry Morgan Sr., and Merry Campbell; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her two sisters, Barbara Ann and Janet Christine.

She will be remembered for her kind and loving heart, her strength, her sense of humor, and her unwavering devotion to her family. She will be forever loved and deeply missed.
