JOYCE LEE BRIGGS

Joyce Lee Briggs was born in Grandfield, OK to Harold Andrew and Leatha May Young on February 18, 1944. After a long, hard fight and courageous battle with cancer, Joyce died at her sister's home in Tahlequah, OK surrounded by her family on January 15, 2017. Joyce graduated from Ardmore High School in 1962, then graduated from Southeastern State College. Joyce began her career as a teacher and retired as a Superintendent of Schools. Both parents preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister, Janice Lynn Rogers, Wimberley, TX; a brother, Harold Andrew Young, "Drew" and wife, Sherry, Sherman TX; sister, Martha Ann Green and husband, Joe Green; nephew, Traye Andrew Green and wife, Rebecca; niece, Jana Lee Ann Green; a great nephew, Jordan Andrew Green all of Tahlequah, OK; and a God Son, Austin Gregory Harmon, Austin, TX; Per Joyce's personal request there will be no services. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Choice Hospice, 1002 South McQuarrie Ave, Suite B, Wagoner, OK 74467. Joyce will be missed by many of her former students, friends, and loved ones, but never forgotten for the impact she made on many.
