JOSEPH D. SHEELEY
Joseph D. Sheeley, 86, of Belton, MO passed away February 15, 2014. Funeral service will be Noon Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Cullen Funeral Home with visitation 10:30-Noon. Burial will be in Springfield Veterans Cemetery. Joseph was born November 19, 1927 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Homer and Mabel Sheeley. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Sheeley and sister, Patricia Smith. Joseph is survived by his wife Betty of 64 years; sons, Joseph D. Sheeley, Jr. (Mary) and J. Scott Sheeley (Barbara); daughters, Sara A. Powers and Erin P. Maiolo (John); nine grandchildren, Wendi, Talia, Ben, Elisabeth, Andrew, Gianna, Pete, Alexandra and Kate; four great grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Cooper and Camden.
He was a beloved Husband and Father. He was a WWII-era and Korean War veteran and was active in the 78th AAA Gun Battalion's Association. He was a professional engineer. He retired from Allied-Signal and then enjoyed many years of fishing and boating on Table Rock Lake. Above all, he was a believer. Joe is currently spending his first week in heaven where the fishing is always good.
