Josefina Nazario (Wella)


Josefina Nazario, 68, of Peculiar, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt of many and cherished friend, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, December 7, 2012. She is once again reunited with her God, and has prepared herself well for the next life through study, prayer, and faith.

Josefina was born on December 27, 1943, in San German, Puerto Rico. Josefina loved life; she loved her family, her friends, her pets, nature and she loved God. She was a kind, loving person to everyone she met and always had a big smile and a warm hug. Josefina thought her greatest legacy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren always brought out that special smile! She loved to be with her family, enjoyed sewing and crocheting and will be missed by all the lives she touched.

She is survived by her sons, Arcenio Velez, Peculiar, MO and Fernando Velez, San Pedro, CA; her mother, Paula Pagan, Brooklyn, NY; her sisters, Gladys Santiago, Brooklyn, NY, Soraida Lopez, Brooklyn, NY, Yolanda Lopez, Puerto Rico, and Brunilda Lopez, Brooklyn, NY; and, her brother Jose Lopez, Brooklyn, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren Rebecca, Olivia, Luis, Anthony, Brianna, Tessa, Devon and Megan; great-granddaughter, Declynn; her devoted daughters-in-law Karin Velez and Olivia Velez; many nieces and nephews; and special friends in California, Wyoming, Florida, Puerto Rico and Missouri.
