JOHN RICHARD NICKLIN
John Richard Nicklin, 93, of Raymore, MO passed away on March 9, 2012. Memorial services 11:30 AM Thursday, March 15, 2012 in Bromwell Lounge at Foxwood Springs Living Center. Graveside services 3 PM at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Weston, MO. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma; his parents; a brother and sister. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. John was born on July 12, 1918 in Calgary, Alberta. He, along with his family, moved to Los Angles, California in 1926 and he became a citizen of the United States shortly thereafter. John enlisted in the Navy in February 1942, and served until honorably discharged in 1946 as a Naval Officer. John earned his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry in 1950, a Master's degree in Educational Guidance in 1951, and his Doctorate in 1956. He had a very successful career in Education as teacher, professor, assistant dean, dean and retired in 1973 after serving as President of Pierce College in Los Angles. The family would like to thank Dr. Kirk Ridley for his care not only as a physician but as a friend and golf buddy. A special thanks also goes to the nurses and staff at Foxwood Springs for their excellent care and friendship.
