Obituary

JOHN R. HAYWORTH

John R. (Raymond) Hayworth, age 83, of Belton, MO passed away March 7, 2016. Funeral service will be 11 AM on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Cullen Funeral Home with visitation 10-11 AM. Graveside will begin at 1 PM at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery of Higginsville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Southland Baptist Church 16205 Vicie Ave, Belton, MO 64012.

John was born on October 8, 1932, in Jefferson City, MO. His parents were William L. Hayworth and Eva L. (Bobbitt) Hayworth. John and his siblings grew up in the Tipton and Otterville, MO area. His childhood years consisted of playing basketball and baseball. Some of his fondest memories were playing baseball as a pitcher when his older brother was his catcher. After graduating Otterville High School, in 1952, John enlisted into the Armed Forces and bravely served his country during the Korean War as a Radio Operator. John received his Honorable Discharge as a Corporal in the United States Army.

On April 30, 1960, John married, Laveta D. Hunt and together they raised their three sons, Phil Hayworth, Kenny Hunt and Ron Hunt.

John worked as a supervisor for Allied-Signal, retiring in 1989. John and Laveta's retirement years consisted of flying his single engine Cessna, traveling the country in their motor home, attending their grandchildren's sporting events and most importantly in his life - serving the Lord! For several years in the 1980's John had his own radio ministry program on Kansas City's Christian Network, KCCV. The name of his weekly program was "Because He Lives". John was a member of Southland Baptist Church of Belton, Missouri. John was a member of the "construction team" of volunteer church members that built the building where the church is located today. Being built on the Love of God and some sore muscles, each worker had their own expertise. John made sure all cracks and joints were sealed to perfection. Thus earning him the distinction as "The King of Caulk". He was humorously awarded a plaque with a mounted golden caulking gun.

John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Eva Hayworth; one sister, Beverly K. Burke; one brother, William F. Hayworth; and daughter-in-law, Ginny Hunt.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Laveta D. Hayworth; three sons, Phil Hayworth (Trina), Kenny Hunt (Trish), and Ron Hunt (Shelia); one sister, Mildred J. Peoples (Walter); five grandchildren, Curtis Hunt (Kara), Kyle Hunt (Annie), Chris Hayworth, Carey Morton and Kayla (Brandon) Heaster; three great-grandchildren, Dakota Marshall, Brynn Marshall, and Brady Hunt.

Arrangements: Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore, MO (816) 322-5278
