John M. “Jack” Dobbs
John M. “Jack” Dobbs, 82, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, the same day he and his beloved wife celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.
Jack was born on August 3, 1943, in Flandreau, South Dakota. He graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in Pharmacy in 1966.
On April 27, 1968, Jack married the love of his life, Nancy. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and lasting memories.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy; his son, Ben Dobbs and wife Stefanie, and Zack and Zoey Zsargo, Ben’s stepchildren, of La Quinta California; his daughter, Becki Bickelhaupt and husband Mark, and their children Jenna, Jace, and Brynn of Raymore, Missouri; his brother, Ron Dobbs (Verdonna); his brother, Joe Dobbs (Jolene); and his sister, Nancy Keupp (Craig), along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Eugene Dobbs of Madison, South Dakota.
Jack loved his family deeply and cherished the time he spent with them. He and Nancy shared a love of travel, creating lasting memories on trips throughout their life together, including special journeys to Europe and a memorable 50th wedding anniversary trip to Hawaii with Ben, Becki, and their families. Jack and Nancy also enjoyed playing golf near and far with family and friends. He especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren, proudly attending their sporting events, school activities, and milestones, always offering quiet support, encouragement, and a well-timed story from his past.
Jack dedicated more than 50 years to his career as a pharmacist, including 43 years serving the community of Osage, Iowa. He was known for his reliability, his care for others, and the relationships he built—becoming not just a pharmacist, but a trusted friend to many. He was also an active member of Rotary International.
An avid golfer, Jack especially enjoyed time on the course with his family and was proud to have recorded three holes-in-one, including a highlight at the Iowa State Father Daughter Golf Tournament. He also enjoyed bowling and valued the friendships he built over many years in the sport. A passionate sports fan, Jack became a loyal supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals after moving from Osage to Raymore, Missouri, to be closer to his grandchildren—a decision that brought him immense joy.
Jack will be remembered for his steady presence, his unwavering dedication to his family and community, and the many lives he touched through both his profession and his friendships. His legacy of love, service, and commitment will live on in all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9th, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
