Joanne passed away and peacefully but unexpectedly at the home she shared with her husband Jim on July 11, 2025.
Joanne Lynn (Gladden) Crandell was born in Kansas City on November 2, 1951, and grew up in Grandview, Mo. She graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management. She spent 21 years in the United States Air Force, stationed in eight different states, including Hawaii and Alaska, and three years in Germany. She retired in 1994 as a Chief Master Sergeant. She has many collectables from her world travels.
Joanne met and married Jim Crandell while both were stationed in Hawaii. She has a stepson, Greg and two grandchildren, Carson and Paige. She raised a great-nephew, Cooper, who is now 24 years old.
Joanne was active singing in the church choir at Raymore Christian Church. In the past she also sang in the Southland Community Chorale and the Foxwood Springs Choir. She occasionally provided Foxwood with a solo of her favorite hymns. She rang in the bell choir at Foxwood Springs. She is an avid quilter, Chiefs fan, plays a folk guitar and loves to read. Joanne loves children and animals and currently has two cats Ollie and Livie.
She is survived by Jim Crandell her husband of 50 years, step-son Greg, grandchildren Carson and Paige, sister Janice (Gladden) Nelson (Garry) of Florida, nieces Linda (Haddock) Conway, Wendy (Woodson) Clark, nephew Ron Gladden (Brandi), great nephews Bennett, Baylor, Easton and Cooper (who is like a son to her) and great nieces Jenny, Megan, Tori and Michaela.
She is preceded in death by her parents Merl and Tilma Gladden of Grandview, sister Joyce (Gladden) Haddock of Florida, brother Bob Gladden of Raymore, niece Donna and nephew Tim.
Joanne was a ray of sunshine, who will be deeply missed, by all who knew her.
Visitation is Friday, July 18th at 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Raymore Christian Church, 500 Peace Drive, Raymore, Missouri.
