In life, Jimmy loved his career in Education Administration and Teaching. During his 37 years in Education, he served students at Easton Elementary, Easton MO 6 years, King City School District, King City, MO 6 years, Southwood Elementary, Raytown MO 21 years and Community Christian Academy, Lee's Summit MO for 4 years. Being with his family was the most important part of his life. He and Dixie attended sporting events, dance recitals, school concerts, horse shows, and numerous other activities their grandchildren were participating in. Jim was a leader of the Boy Scout Troop 550 and a member in the Tribe of Micosay. This was especially meaningful as three generations were active and involved in the tribe and he loved spending time with his sons and grandsons at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation.
