JERRY WAYNE DORRELL
Jerry Wayne Dorrell, age 88, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at St. Sabina Catholic Church, 700 Trevis Ave., Belton, Missouri 64012. Following will be a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held after mass at Belton Cemetery in Belton, Missouri.
Jerry was born in Roscoe, Missouri on July 7, 1932 to Maxwell Dorrell and Maude (McIntire) Dorrell. Growing up, Jerry was one of eight children. After school he joined the work force and when he was able, took the opportunity to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After Jerry's honorable and faithful service, he worked for thirty-six years as a Shipping Clerk for General Motors. In the late winter of 1956, Jerry was joined in marriage with Colleen (Moore) and together they have shared many happy years together. When it came to work, Jerry could fix anything often referred to as "Mr. Fix-it." Jerry was a member of the UAW 1021 Retiree Club and also enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening. He was a country boy at heart.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Maxwell and Maude Dorrell; six siblings, Cecil Dorrell, Myrtle "Bobbie" Baxter, Maxine Dorrell, J.L. Dorrell, Arthur Dorrell, and Charles Dorrell.
He is survived by his loving wife of over sixty-four years, Colleen Dorrell; two sons, David and Dennis Dorrell; two daughters Vickie Pittman and Tracy Coyle (Toby); sister, Viola Cotter; three grandchildren, Benjamin Dorrell (Monique), Lillith Coyle, and Samuel Coyle; and great granddaughter, Nala Dorrell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, 3405 W. Truman Blvd., #102, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102.
