JEFFREY A JANES

Jeffrey A. Janes, 68, of Lee's Summit, MO passed away on November 10, 2023.

Jeff was born on June 20, 1955 to Joe & Pat Janes in Vandalia, IL.   He graduated from Vandalia High School on June 1, 1973, where he was active in water skiing.

Jeff studied at the University of IL-Carbondale where he earned his bachelor's degree in engineering.  After graduation, Jeff took a job with Kansas City Power & Light where he spent his entire career as a boiler engineer, traveling between Iatan, Montrose & Hawthorne power plants.

He met Michele Rogge through a mutual friend and they were married on May 23, 1992.  They spent 9 years together and had a beautiful daughter, Brooke Emily Janes on March 9, 1993.

Jeff was a good father, always attending Brooke's musical or sports events.  Jeff enjoyed motocross until an accident nearly took his right leg.  He enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, motorcycle trips with fellow Harley-Davidson friends & bicycling.  He competed in the MS-150 two years.  The MS-150 is a 150 mile, 2 day bike tour that raises money for Multiple Sclerosis.  He loved the mountains whether it was hiking or snow skiing.  He & Brooke took an Alaskan cruise with extended family in 2008.

Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Pat Janes and brother Joe Janes, Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Brooke Emily Moorhead (Jacob) and grandchildren, Tristan Lee & Hannah Marie Moorhead, his sister, Paula Schneider (Leroy) and Aunt Evelyn McKeithan and cousins.

Jeff was loved and will be missed greatly by his family & friends.

His Celebration of Life Service will be on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at The Rogge Family Vineyard & Event Space at 707 Kurzweil Rd., Raymore, MO 64083 at 12 p.m.  Dress is casual.
