Jean was born in Buckinghamshire, England on April 10, 1937, the daughter of Charles Dancer and Elsie Purkiss Dancer. On January 4, 1956, Jean was united in marriage to Kenneth “Ray” Guin. Jean and Ray were blessed with three children: Patricia, David, and Glenda.

Jean was a beloved wife and mother who cared for her husband and three children in the home. Jean was well-known for her favorite hobbies: knitting and baking. She knitted blankets and garments for all her family as well as numerous charitable and children’s agencies. She baked sourdough bread and cookies for family, church members, friends and neighbors, and taught others how to bake bread as well.

Jean (Nana) especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, taking them to parks and special outings with friends, and creating fun experiences for them. And of course, baking cookies for them and their friends. Jean enjoyed time spent with their many friends and family as well, attending theatre shows, dining out, and simple pleasures such as game nights and family gatherings.

Jean was tireless when it came to serving in her church (Belvidere Heights Baptist Church) and volunteered in many positions, including Awana, Sunday School, Nursery and Kitchen committees, and Homebound Ministry, serving God and others straight from her heart.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elsie Dancer; her wonderful husband of 60 years, Kenneth “Ray” Guin; son, David Ray Guin; three sisters, Ann Seymour, Viola Marsh, and Josephine Hemmings; and a great-grandson, Riley McCrackin.

She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia J. Mays (Gary) and Glenda M. Monaco; brother, John Dancer; sister, Dorothy Cottrell; ten grandchildren, Heather (Jeromy), Alissa (Dan), Lindsay (Brian), Philip (Jessica), Alexander (Suzanne), Gregory, David, Theresa, Arthur (Frida), and Jeffrey; 26 great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
