JANICE FAYE HEFLIN
Janice Faye Plumb Heflin, 75, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on July 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, after a brief illness.
Janice was born on May 19, 1949, in Ava, Missouri, to Walter G and Lena Blanche Plumb of Peculiar, Missouri. In the mid-1960s, fate brought Janice together with John Heflin when her brother Larry arranged for John to give her a ride to school. This chance encounter blossomed into a deep and enduring love. They were married on June 16, 1968 and were blessed with four children; Johnna Heflin, John Heflin Jr., Thomas Heflin (Kim) and Tammy Danzi.
Janice retired from Nazarene Publishing House in 2011, dedicating her time to caring for her great-grandchildren, volunteering at her church, and providing unwavering support to her extensive network of friends and family whenever needed.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lena Plumb and her siblings Norman Plumb, Wanda King, Gerald Plumb, Phyllis Chastain, and Sharon Skivers. She is survived by her siblings, Mildred (Midge) Branson, Larry Plumb and Betty Boulware; children, Johnna Heflin, John Heflin Jr., Thomas Heflin (Kim), Tammy Danzi, and bonus son Mauricio Olivares; grandchildren Jeffrey Borucki, Kasey King (Trez), Jesse King, Nicole Heflin, Hannah Heflin, Chad Heflin, Erick Taylor, and Samantha Burke; great-grandchildren Emma Anderson, Jacob Anderson, Langston Taylor, William Heflin, Jackson Heflin, Brennan Taylor, Isabel Burke and Jay Burke.
Janice Heflin will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend whose life exemplified love, faith, and selfless service. Her gentle spirit and boundless love left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she has departed this world, her legacy of love and kindness will endure in the hearts of those she touched.
Funeral services will be held at Cullen Funeral Home on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 11 a.m., followed by burial at West Union Cemetery and a reception at the Peculiar Lions Community Building.
