Obituary

JANICE C. BERRY

Janice C. Berry was born May 18, 1942 and went to be with her Lord and Savior August 14, 2025. Jan was born to William and Phyllis (Gleason) Clark at Lawton, Oklahoma. Her father was career Army, so they lived all over Virginia, Colorado, and Kansas. She spent much of her childhood in Jamestown, New York, near her mother's parents and the family finally settled in Hutchinson, Kansas.

She attended Hutchinson High School. She was married to Gerald Berry in Hutchison, Kansas on December 28, 1958. To this union was given five children. Jan spent most of her life as a homemaker and pastor's wife and later worked 27 years as a CNA in nursing homes. She was voted outstanding employee of the month several times in recognition of her devotedness to nursing. At a young age she received Christ as her Savior and this one decision set the course of the rest of her life. As a child, her desire was to serve the Lord. Jan had a passion for the things of God and her life revolved around church, sharing her faith, teaching Sunday School and Children's Church, leading Ladies Ministries, hosting missionaries in her home, and making sure her children and other families know Christ as their Savior. She worked nights so she could be at home to raise their kids and later to help with grandkids. A lot of her work for the Lord was accomplished through supporting her husband with the churches he pastored and the working of two churches, and also her support of her two sons in the ministry. Growing up in a military home, she counted it an honor that Jerry also served his county in the Air Force and Air Guard. She loved her Lord, family, friends, snow (she didn't shovel it!), and snowmen.

She is preceded in death by her husband Rev. Dr. Gerald Leo Berry, Jr.; father and mother, an infant sister, her brother Jim Clark, her oldest sister Jo Ann Hill, one daughter-in- law Carol Berry, two sister-in-laws, Lucille Hughes and Patty Clark, and five brothers-in-law, Francis Dale Davenport, Ronald Berry, Alfed Berry, Clifford Hughes, and Dick Clayton.

She is survived by one sister Jeanie (Dave) Leiker, brother in law, Don Hill; four sisters-in-law, Thelma Davenport, Dixie (Roy) Golden, Joyce Clayton, Janice (Larry) Bigham; three daughters, Janet  Lea (Doug) Pence of Cuba, Missouri, Susan Lyn (Daniel) French of Knob Noster, Missouri, and Toni Lyn Robertson of Woodward, Oklahoma; two sons, Rev. Gary Lee (Charlotte) Berry of Belton, Missouri, and Rev. Galen Leo (Melissa) Berry of Norman Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren, Dani (Johnnie) Robinson, Jodi (Steve) Pearson, Eric Robinson, Patrick (Melissa) Pence, Ben (Lora) Pence, Ryan (Nici) Robinson, Rev. John Wesley (Rachel) Berry, Robert (Nicole) Pence, Rev. Brian Gerald (Monica) Berry, Adam Leo (Naomi) Berry, Al (Megan) French, Caleb (Vanessa) Berry, Grant Leighton (Natalie) Berry, Sierra Berry (Hunter) Dailey, Emily French, Timothy French, Elisa French, Emma French; 26 great-grandchildren, Paige (Jayton) Bennett, Doug (Katie) Bigham, Ian Robinson, Julian (Anslea) Robinson, Jenna (Eric) Hansen, Jadyn Robinson, Brooklyn Pearson, Bayle Robinson, Kanyon Mooreland, Reagan Richards, Ben Mooreland, Thor Robinson, Wade Robinson, Addison Berry, Samantha Berry, Aurum Robinson, Molly Berry, Eli Berry, Colton Dailey, Hudson Dailey, Grayson Dailey, Isaac French, Jonathan French, Elizabeth Berry, Sadie Berry; (4) great-great-grandchildren, Baker Bennett, Elizabeth Pence, Jack Pence, Elliott Robinson, many nieces and nephews, many friends, and a host of people who knew her as a pastor's wife, friend, and mother figure. For both of our parents, they had no greater joy than to know that their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren walk in the truth of God and are devoted followers of Christ.
