James Michael "Mike" Lowrey, age 86, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at South Haven Baptist Church, 16800 Bel-Ray Blvd., Belton, Missouri 64012. Mike will then be laid to rest at Raymore Cemetery in Raymore, Missouri.

Mike was born in Ada, Oklahoma on December 19, 1935 to Wiley and Mildred (Looney) Lowrey and spent his childhood in Sulphur, Oklahoma.

He grew up in Sulphur and was a graduate of Sulphur High School in 1953, graduating as Valedictorian and President of his class. He earned membership in Oklahoma Honor Society and National Honor Society. Also, took part in many activities and was in the band, mixed chorus and boys quartet.

After graduating from High School he went on to obtain his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and his Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kansas. Later earned his Professional Engineering license from the State of Missouri.

While at the University of Oklahoma he was in R.O.T.C. and had a Life Membership in the University of Oklahoma Alumni Association.

He worked part time in the Alumni office getting the football letter our each week.

He worked for the Bendix Corporation/Allied Signal Aerospace, now Honeywell for 33 dedicated years of service as a Quality Control Engineer, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of South Haven Baptist Church. Throughout his life, one thing remained constant, his commitment to the Lord. His faithfulness in church and to study God's word was a source of encouragement to so many.

He enjoyed reading, going to the lake, listening to Classical Music and being with family and friends. He always had a kind word to say about everyone and was generous, loving and ready to help anyone in need. He enjoyed sports and was an avid "BOOMER SOONER" fan. He enjoyed attending any activity his son or grandson were involved in and regularly attended their special events. HE enjoyed telling gorse stories about riding his horse in Platt National Park with a friend. He enjoyed poetry and Casey at the Bat and the Cremation of Sam McGee were his favorites to recite. He taught all of us to win with grace, lose with dignity and participate with joy.

Mike met his wife Wilma on a blind date. They attended an Easter Pageant at Lawton, Oklahoma during Easter break from College.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Wilma Lee (Cox) Lowrey of the home; one son, Steven Michael and wife Trish (Taylor) Lowrey of Raymore, MO; Grandson Nicholas Michael Lowrey of Belton, MO and two sisters Tess (Lowrey) Pierce of Ada, Oklahoma and Mary (Lowrey) Reynolds of Davis, Oklahoma. Other beloved family survivors are Ben, Stephanie, August and Louie Hathaway of Pleasant Hill, MO and Jeff, Whitney, Kobe and Hunter Sherman of Belton, MO.

He had a beautiful life with no regrets and a beautiful family whom he loved very much.
