JAMES "ROY" DOUGAN

Roy Dougan, 98, of Belton, Missouri passed away on January 16, 2015 at Foxwood Spring Living Center, Raymore, Missouri.

Roy was born on November 21, 1916 to Carrie Housinger and James Dougan in Stilwell, Kansas. He was the youngest of five children, three brothers and one sister. He goes now to meet all who have preceded him in death, parents; wife, Alfreda M. Dougan; three brothers, Author, Elmer and Frank Dougan; and sister, Ruby Mae Redinger as well as all of his wife's family.

Roy met his wife Alfreda Walker at the First Baptist Church while visiting from Stilwell one Sunday night. They were married five years later and were married for 68 years.

After returning from serving in the Navy during WWII, he joined the First Baptist Church in 1945, where he remained a faithful member his entire life. He served in many different roles in the church as well as being instrumental in establishing two missions, one in Belvedere Heights and one in West Belton.

Roy worked as a Postal Employee for 33 years as well as being the first Farmers Insurance Agent in Belton. He sold insurance for 25 years. His favorite hobby was his farm and raising Belgium draft horses.

Roy was well loved by all who knew him. He has outlived most of his peers and all of his siblings. He leaves his two daughters, Sharon Dougan of Seattle, WA and Glenna Jackson of Florida, three grandchildren, Daniel Grayum of San Francisco, Ross Grayum of Seattle, Audrey Stokesbary of Minneapolis and five beautiful great grandchildren, Jackson, Lauren and John Stokesbary and Taylor and Rylie Grayum. He will be missed by all.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore, MO with visitation 10-11 AM. Interment will follow the service at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Stanley, Kansas.
