James A. Bush, 78, Real Estate Developer, Dies.
James Arnold Bush passed away June 22, 2012 at the Missouri Veterans Home.
He began his life on May 12, 1934 in the west Texas town of Ballinger. He was the son of Clyde A. and Thelma M. Vogelsang Bush.
Jim attended Texas A&M University and after graduation joined the Army Corps of Engineers.
When his service was complete, he joined Phillips Petroleum as a civil engineer in charge of Alaskan road and work camp construction in preparation for the Alyeska Pipeline.
Jim left Phillips to begin a new career in commercial real estate. He started James A. Bush and Company on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri.
His wife Jo, began selling residential real estate and soon opened the Area Realtors office in Raymore, Missouri.
Jo and Jim worked together at Area Realtors for approximately 20 years.
While in Raymore, Jim served as mayor, developed Pinestreet Center, the town's first shopping center, and cleaned up a 40 acre tract of land at the corner of 58 and J Highway that had been used as a dumping ground for old tanks. Jim was one of the founders of Community Bank of Raymore and served on its board of directors.
Funeral services are at 11 AM Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Cullen Funeral Home with visitation 10-11 AM. Inurnment will be in Raymore Cemetery following services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association Heart of America - 3846 West 75th St., Prairie Village, KS 66208. James was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ronald and Darryl Bush. James is survived by his wife Mary "Jo" of 51 years; daughter, Laura Crotty; son, Steve Bush and wife Christine; ten grandchildren: James Burke, Daniel Burke, Joseph Burke, Thomas Burke, William Crotty, Matthew Crotty, Steven Bradley Bush Jr, Bailey Bush, Meredith Bush, Kyle Bush.
