IVAN L. NELSON

Ivan L. Nelson, 94, of Raymore, MO passed away on November 27, 2015 at Foxwood Springs Living Center. Ivan was born August 14, 1921 in Boone County, Iowa, the son of Lloyd F. and Ethel (Gustafson) Nelson.

Ivan graduated from Jordan High School in 1938. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1948 with a degree in Agricultural Engineering.

Ivan served in the US Army Air Forces during World War II in the Philippines and occupied Japan.

He had a long career as a design engineer working for John Deere Ankeny Works for 23 years and then at Southern Iowa Manufacturing Company in Osceola for over 20 years.

Ivan was an active member of the Evangelical Free Church and served on many church and community boards.

Ivan was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife Fran of 67 years; three daughters, Audrey Nelson of Loves Park, IL; Kathleen Walter (Kelly) of Raymore, MO; Joyce Scholle (Alan) of Cedar Falls; sister, Beatrice Babbitt of Boone, IA; brother, Dwight Nelson (MaryLou); four grandchildren, Andrew Walter, Ryland Walter, Elandria Walter and Tim Scholle; five great-grandchildren, Reagan Walter, Gunnar Walter, Titus Walter, Maverick Walter and Draven Walter.

Memorial services will be held at Foxwood Springs in Holmes Hall on Tuesday, December 1st at 1:30 p.m. A visitation and memorial service will be held at First Evangelical Free Church in Boone, IA at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4th.
