Isabel C. Winkel

Isabel C. Winkel, age 91, of New Holstein died Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the Willowdale Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein where she resided for the past six years. The former Isabel Buhl was born May 30, 1920 in the Town of New Holstein to the late Frank & Margaret (Salm) Buhl. She attended Lincoln Grade School. On March 30, 1948, she married Raymond Winkel at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. The couple farmed in St. Anna and she also worked at the Salvatorian Mission Warehouse in New Holstein until her retirement. Her husband preceded her in death on October 1, 1977. Isabel was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein in the Christian Women's Society. Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Winkel of New Holstein; special friends, Allen Birschbach of Clarkston, MI and Sara Birschbach of Pewaukee, WI; her brother, Frank (Irene) Buhl of Bedford, New Hampshire; her four sisters, Sally Meyer of Fond du Lac, Viola Van Rooy of De Pere, Delores Peik of Wauwatosa, and Sr. Lucille Buhl of Belton, MO , and a brother-in-law, Jerome (Beatta) Janty of Belgium, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Mary; and a sister, Katherine Janty. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 1724 Madison Street in New Holstein. Rev. Harold Berryman will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
