IRENE CHRISTENSEN

Irene Christensen, age 61, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

Celebration of Life and Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 2nd. The Viewing will be at 10am followed by the Service at 11am. The service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 13025 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64145.

Irene was born in Provo, Utah on May 8, 1964 to Larry Joe Meldrum and Melanee (Mitchell) Meldrum. In her youth, Irene enjoyed clogging and choir in high school. After graduating high school, she married the love of her life Daryl at the Provo, Utah Temple. They moved to the Kansas City area and primarily raised their children in Grandview, MO. Irene was very involved in all three of her kids' activities and life events, she took great pride in never missing one of Blakes' home football games! Irene worked for many years at Conn-West Elementary as the School Nurse Paraprofessional. After Daryl passed in 2005, Irene returned to school and obtained her LPN. She worked as a Hospice Nurse the remainder of her career. Throughout her life, Irene was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was very involved in church, music, singing, and spending time with her family.

Irene had a special gift of putting her sweet love into action reflected in her kindness, how she cared and served her family, in church callings, her patients, and others. She always put the extra effort in to make ordinary things memorable and special from having Santas elves' 'fluff' the presents, creating devotional handouts at Girls Camp, making grandkid quilts and even trying to learn Pokémon Go for her grandkids. Irene showed unconditional love in how she lived, cared for her family, and how she willingly would give all she had, even if it left her lacking, to serve another.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Larry Joe and Melanee Meldrum; her loving husband, Daryl M Christensen; brother, Phillip Meldrum; and sister, Annalynn Replogle.

She is survived by her three children, Blake Christensen (Cheryl), Amy Short (Jessy), and Lisa Perry (Benson); brothers, Mark Meldrum (Laurie) and Gordon Meldrum; sister, Lori Dansie (Jon); sister in law, Stephanie Meldrum; and seven grandchildren, Martha Elizabeth Christensen, Sallyann Irene Christensen, Daryl Levi Christensen, Alexander Daniel Short, Ann Jewel Perry, Melanee Joan Perry, and Christina Mae Perry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the family.
