MELDA V. VILLARREAL

Imelda V. Villarreal, age 96, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, in Chesterfield Mo.  Imelda was preceded in death by Milton Villarreal, her husband of  67 years.

Imelda was born  October 7, 1927 in Donna, Texas to Juan and Fermina Villanueva.  She married her high school sweetheart, Milton Villarreal, on December 12, 1945.  After the war Milton secured a job with Civil Service ( Department of Defense)  and they lived in Spain for 12 years.   In Madrid, they loved to go tasca hopping (bar hopping) and eating tapas (Spanish Hors d'Oeuvres).   While they lived in Spain, they traveled to England, Germany, France, Morocco, Italy and Portugal.

Imelda and Milton have 6 children who survive them:  Xavier (retired USAF major) and wife Christine of Denver CO, Norma Lindsey (Martin, retired USARMY major) of Chesterfield MO, Michael Villarreal of Belton MO (predeceased, Connie Read), Felix Villarreal of St. Louis MO, Veronica Villarreal (Melissa) of Seattle WA and Juan (retired Lt Col USAF) and wife Christine of Utah.

They have 4 grandchildren: Matthew (retired Navy Lt Commander) and Alicia of Monroe LA, Michael Villarreal, Dianne Villarreal and Natalie Potter (Colby) all of Denver CO.  And 7 Great grandchildren: Quinn, Theodore and Oliver Potter  and Hank Villarreal all of Denver CO; and Veronica, Duke, and Sawyer Villarreal of Monroe, Louisiana.

After Spain, Imelda and Milton resided in Belton for 46 years.  Imelda worked as an accountant for the Department of Defense and the IRS.  In 1985 Imelda received an associate degree in Physical Therapy from Longview Community College.  Imelda and Milton were members of St. Sabina Catholic Church of Belton MO,

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at St. Sabina Catholic Church, 700 Trevis Ave., Belton, Missouri 64012 at 10:00 a.m. Imelda will then be laid to rest at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

No flowers please.  Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude's Hospital, Memphis TN
