Ila June Muchow, 83, of Raymore, MO passed away peacefully August 14, 2010 at Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by loving family members. She was born June 18, 1927 at the Durr family farm near Dighton, KS, daughter of Delmar and Lena Bobb Durr. She attended Kansas State University in Manhattan where she met her husband, Robert Muchow of Topeka, KS. As a mother and homemaker, she raised six children. After the youngest graduated, she worked as a realtor for Crown Realty in Paola, KS for many years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Paola, KS for almost 60 years. She helped with the Brownies in the 1960s and served as a Girl Scout Neighborhood Chairman in the early 1970s. She was a member of the DQ chapter of PEO from 1965 to 2009 where she held the office of President twice from 1977-1979 and again from 1997-1998. Ila was an avid golfer from the 1960s until 2008 and was a member of the Kansas Women's Golf Association where she participated in Senior Golf Championships. She enjoyed flying with her husband to courses around America and three different islands. She served as a volunteer at the Miami County Genealogy and Historical Society in Kansas and the Swan River Museum in Paola, KS. Two years ago, Ila and Robert moved to Foxwood Springs Retirement Community in Raymore where she enjoyed the activities and people who lived there. Ila loved her husband and family, golf, sports, people and life. She is preceded in death by her parents: sisters, Geneva Hineman and Jeanette Bosley; brother, Marvin Durr. Ila is survived by her husband Robert of 63 years; sons, Douglas, Daniel, Don and David Muchow; daughter, Jana Graber and husband Neal, Julie Koops and husband, Ben; 16 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Lorene Stormont, Ellen May Stanley, Mary Alice Bosley and Lee Speer. She is a member of Lord of Love Lutheran Church in Belton. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, with a funeral service to follow at Lord of Love Lutheran Church, 8306 E. 171st St., Belton, MO 64012. Memorial contributions may be made to Lord of Love Lutheran Church or KC Hospice & Palliative Care.
