HUGH R. PALMER
Hugh R. Palmer, age 97, of Raymore, Missouri passed away January 3, 2017 at Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore, Missouri.
Hugh was born April 4, 1919 in Perrysville, Ohio. He was the son of Charles and Ethel (Snyder) Palmer. At the age of 19, Hugh enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during World War II as a B-29 flight engineer instructor.
After the war, Hugh attended Aerotech School in California on the G.I. Bill. His skills and training led to an exciting career in the airline industry where he traveled the world and met presidents and kings.
Since 1957 Hugh has called Missouri his home. He and his wife Lois moved to Foxwood Springs of Raymore, Missouri over 27 years ago. He enjoyed playing golf and Bridge with his friends, participating in community events and festivals and volunteering in many service organizations and groups at Foxwood and in the neighboring community.
Hugh was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Palmer; his parents, Charles and Ethel Palmer; siblings, Paul, John, Abraham and Charles Palmer, Miriam Braden, Ruth Fry, and Marilyn Ilnisky. He is survived by his step-children, Willard and Susan Saunders Of Washington, D.C. and Albuquerque, New Mexico respectively; brother, Eugene Palmer (Fran); sisters, Marie Snyder and JoAnne Allen.
A Memorial Service for Hugh will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Holmes Hall in Foxwood Springs Living Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the "Fellowship of John" 1500 W. Foxwood Drive, Raymore, Missouri, 64083.
