Henry Wayne Kester, age 80, of Grandview, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2026, in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
Services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 850 SE Church Street, Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64063. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed immediately with a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. A private burial will be held later that day.
He was born on January 6, 1946, in Los Angeles, California, to Harvey Cleveland and Margene Cole Kester.
Henry graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1964, served a mission for the LDS Church in Chile from Oct 1965 to Jan 1968, and graduated from Brigham Young University in 1970.
On June 26, 1968, Henry married Margurite Sue Ostler. Together, they raised 5 children. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion to their family and their faith.
Henry was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served faithfully in many leadership positions, including bishop, stake president, and patriarch. His service to others and deep commitment to his faith were hallmarks of his life.
Henry will be remembered for his warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to his family and faith. He touched countless lives through his service and example.
Henry is survived by his beloved wife Sue Kester, and their children, Wayne Kester, Thomas (Karla) Kester, Tracy (Phil) Hickman, Amy (Keith) Hepworth, and David Kester, along with 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Missionary Fund.
