HELEN G. BELLAS

Helen G. Bellas, 94, of Raymore, MO passed away February 13, 2014. Visitation will be 9-10 AM Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Raymore Christian Church with services 10:30 AM in Holmes Hall at Foxwood Springs Living Center. Graveside services 3 PM Monday in Rosehill Cemetery, Breckenridge, MO. Helen was born July 29, 1919 in Grundy Co., Missouri, the daughter of Edward and Grace Murry Autenrieth. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Glen Ewens; second husband Hugh Bellas; 2 brothers; 2 sisters and great grandson, Christopher Ewens. She is survived by her son, Gary Ewens (Karen) of St. Charles, MO; daughter, Joy Ewens Thompson (Dave) of Oak Harbor, WA; foster daughter, Mary Draper (Dale) of Florissant, MO; sister, Mary Rawlings; 2 grandchildren, Michael Ewens (Kathleen) and Stacy Smith; 2 great grandchildren, Patrick Miyat and Kaleb Smith. Helen grew up on farms in Northern Missouri and Eastern Kansas. She rode a horse to elementary school. She graduated from high school in Chillicothe, MO, and then earned a degree from Chillicothe Business College. Helen moved to St. Louis where she began her career as an office worker, eventually becoming a civil service employee. She married Glen Ewens in 1946. They raised their family in Florissant, MO. After Helen's retirement she moved to Raymore, MO, living at Foxwood Springs. At the age of 83, after being a widow for 18 years, she married Hugh Bellas and embarked on new adventures. Helen was a woman of great faith and served as a deacon, an elder, and Stephens Minister at Christian churches (Disciples of Christ) in Florissant and Raymore. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
